Watched the new IMAX rerelease of this, first time in theaters. Yep this is still my favorite Ghibli film, just an absolutely gorgeous film both visually and spiritually, really speaks to me as someone who has felt burnout a lot in life. In particular the new 4k IMAX remaster is fantastic, still keeps the softness I adore about this film while letting it scale much better for an IMAX screening, I need these IMAX remasters to keep happening, they look so good. Also Jesus Christ I never realized in my past viewings that they did a dedication to Phil Hartman at the end, RIP you legend.

I gotta be one of the few people who are just now getting into Anno’s work and chose this as their first project of his to watch, Eva is gonna have to be the greatest anime of all time to top this I think
