Imtiaz Ali bilkul Dil se film banata hai. With complete and honest emotions. Songs are very good and well interegrated. They probably work better in the context of the scene rather than listening them independently. Naseer is definitely the best actor in this film. He shows so much emotion whole being bedridden the whole time. Another standout is Sharvari who basically steals every scene she is in. The cinematography blows hot and cold. The pre partition scenes has some beautiful camera work, while the present scenes look straight out of a netflix show. I felt the first half was pretty inconsistent in where is it taking the story. The editing sometimes feels clunky. The second half is very engaging especially the last 30 odd minutes as the story takes a dark turn. The ending was beautiful. I was waiting for the "Kya Kamaal Hai" song and it did come during the credits but the choice of visuals left me puzzled. Anyways it's definitely one of the best Hindi films to come in a long time
