Challengers
i have a lot of random thoughts but tldr: as an average movie viewer i was very entertained :] straight people just won’t get it fr
every shot during the tennis matches were chaos but i thought it was very fun. i have seen many tennis matches in my day, and there’s only so many ways to make that much tennis exciting in a movie. one of them is to do crazy things each time. loved the ball and ground povs
there is something very profoundly frustrating about how everyone in the audience knows something that none of the characters are willing to admit, and this is the case for tashi, art, and patrick. especially for the boys who very clearly want each other at different points or at the very least did at some point (gay recognizes gay)
the most unrealistic part of this movie is patrick swiping right that many times on tinder without hitting a paywall. don’t ask how i know this
i think it goes without saying that this movie has an ending that leaves you unsatisfied, but i also wouldn’t change a thing. my favorite type of movie is one that leaves me with questions afterward so i fear this will need a second watch from me at some point
