Opening montage was incredible. Like instantly you know the vibe of the whole movie. The soundtrack is just ridiculous, it carries so much of it.
LA looks unreal in this movie, like the city at night is just glowing but also feels really empty at the same time, which seems unrealistic, considering how populated LA is.
Gosling barely talks but it works perfectly. You understand his character just off how he acts and moves, which is kinda crazy.
The contrast is what really got me. The quiet moments with Irene and her son feel really soft and kind of cute, but then it randomly switches into brutal violence that hits way harder because of that.
Overall I really liked it. It’s more of a vibe/character study than a straight crime movie. I’ll definitely come back to it. 4.5/5, could easily be a 5 on rewatch
