Parasite
You know what kind of plan never fails? No plan. No plan at all. You know why? Because life cannot be planned.
Too often the term “landmark film” is thrown around referencing the best film of any given year. This is not one of those films.
Parasite is excellent.
To lead, the writing in this is phenomenal. Initially a tad predictable, until it veers completely off the rails. The impending train wreck is palpable, ramping with every passing minute, until it flies off the rails.
Much credit is due to the set and cinematography for sticking the landing in this film. From a writing standpoint the film is great, but to fully execute on all fronts really pushes this to the top.
The socio-political allegory in the film is executed nicely, being clear enough for casual viewers to understand it as a theme, while leaving enough complexity for viewers to really read into it.
Easily a top film of the decade, glad to see modern filmmakers can make something of this magnitude.
