The Princess Bride
“Please consider me as an alternative to suicide”
The Princess Bride is undoubtedly one of the greatest romance comedies ever devised. This movie at no point was trying to take itself seriously, and that’s what makes it so great.
The performances were handled excellently particularly that of Cary Elwes and Wallace Shawn’s Characters, but great acting throughout.
The narrative was executed very well, while the story-telling mechanism is not a favorite of mine, it doesn’t intrude enough to be distracting. The pacing is fantastic, never a dull moment in the 98 minute runtime.
The Cinematography was surprisingly good, wasn’t expecting too much from an 80s film but the framing in particular was phenomenal. The set pieces were some of my favorite ever.
The film was under consideration for a perfect score, but didn’t quite reach the heights to attain such a score, nevertheless great film. It really is one of those films you’re just gonna end up watching no matter what.
everything said and done, The Princess Bride is by all accounts a great film, one that doesn’t insist upon itself whatsoever, and is charming in that way.
