Salmon

This film is so overhyped  As someone who had read the original source material what the hell, they could have at least tried to be somewhat faithful.  Matt Damon was bad casting, Odysseus is cunning, sharp and full of himself , Matt Damon played a violent meathead who doesn’t know when to stop. They did not showcase the key moments where Odysseus’ smarts come into play which is why it made no sense when Matt Damon recited multiple poorly written incoherent to the plot speeches. - if you want to add a metaphor IMPLEMENT IT IN THE WHOLE DAMN FILM I commend the use of a prop cyclops however it doesn’t matter if you are not going to properly implement the scene. This scene is one of the best and most famous case of Odysseus wit but for some reason they butchered it. Zendaya’s character was a brilliant idea, if it was used well. The idea of a silent watching god, perfectly physicalised Greek values. But she was not silent, if your going to have a silent character , making them speak once creates affect, any more and it’s not a silent character. And overall the writing was not brilliant - it’s THE classic Greek epic - please don’t use words like dad, sometimes in an emotional scene, silence can speak louder than words, actions too but it seems they forgot that. There were so many cliche elements that could have easily been rewritten. I would give it 1/2 a star but the cinematography was one of the best I have seen of recent, the use of colour to paint scenes was a masterful move - the angles and panning, use of long and quick shots , in addition to the score made this film nearly worth watching.
