low budget shutter island

yk how people say that these types of movies are something younger people will just watch and not truly understand, because they're too young and don't have the emotional intelligence/capacity to truly appreciate it. I thought that was complete bs until i rewatched this movie. I watched it about a year ago as a background movie while i did passive tasks; obviously, i wasn't able to grasp the entirety of this film as I just treated it as background noise. Moreover, i thought that as a 14 year old, i understood everything about the complexity of humans and emotions and all of that; with that, this movie didn't really affect me before. Upon rewatching, i realize that my previous statement was completely wrong. So much changed in a year or perhaps i just tried to understand more in the past year that made me resonate more with this. i never thought about looking deep into films as i often treated them as the white noise while i do other things, but i saw myself (???) in charlie in a sense that i cannot explain.

It’s such an amazing psychological thriller but what ruined this entire thing was the ending; the story and flow was so good all throughout but the ending felt rushed

expected much more from this film considering it’s stacked cast but it was extremely underwhelming
