something is rlly eerie about the balance of the delusional idealism and the fatalistic acceptance of Timothy. Just the circumstance of the death alone doesn’t shock me, but seeing all the videos of his personality and thoughts make everything creepier somehow. It was almost as if he was an idealissstic optimist while also having no regard for his life or his connection to the human world. It FELT like he knew he was going to die and chose to die in that way. many times he says he is content with dying in that way and reassures his loved ones that his death would be protecting the bears. the reality is that he wasn’t protecting anything and it was more for himself than the bears. but then again, that’s just my perception from this condensed documentary . The editing from 100 hours def played a role . I probably would also say some crazy shit if i had a camera alone for 13 summers in the woodz. But …. actions r louder than the words… The decision of staying later in the season right before hibernation AND bringing his girlfriend along is what truly makes it feel like .. he is DEEP into his delusions. Similar to drug addicts, ignoring the risks, knowing you’re ruining your life, or on the brink of death often doesn’t matter more than ones pull and need for the drug. I guess I’m comparing the bears to drugs for Timothy! The analogy works tho… a little.
