Judging this documentary on the perception of witchcraft in the 15th century solely as a movie, what you get is an interesting piece of silent media, in parts horrific, in parts comedic and truly beyond any categorization.
The visuals are outstandingly beautiful, the imagery just as haunting as the memorable score, the performances are terrifyingly incredible, the visual effects (while admittedly kind of goofy by today's standards) are impressive, the occasional stop motion looks amazing and the overall design of the witches and devils absolutely fantastic.
The underreliance on dialogue works surprisingly well with the strong pictures that tell the story.
Overall this is a movie unlike anything I've ever seen,
with a meaning that has been relevant ever since the events it depicts would've happened, and an significance on the evolution of film altogether.
Also there are a lot of stoney Male devil boobs in this, which is certainly an interesting choice.
