Vamp
Now, by all accounts, this is not an amazing movie.
Everything from characters to the plot is sub par,
but I am not able to not love this charming surreal vampire flick.
It's just a really fun watch, the visuals are intriguing and sometimes really beautiful, in a sort of new-wavey style,
the really dry and stupid humor worked well for me and the design of the vampires and their interactions are great.
There are a lot of interesting themes in this movie, sadly almost none of them gets revisited ever again after they first come up, but still these help the movie through a lot of it's slower moments.
Nothing in this movie gets explained, there are a few hints towards really interesting vampire lore, but it's mostly played for laughs.
Entire character arcs are weirdly squished into smaller roles and the lead vampire, Katrina, is absent for most of the movie.
Overall this would maybe warrant arround 3 Stars, but it's all so sincere and aware of it's own ridiculousness, that it gets incredibly wholesome, and by the time the credits start rolling, I was invested in these characters and these vampire infected locations, I wanted to find all the little details hinted at by the story throughout all of it's runtime and in the end, there was enough substance there to keep me entertained for the whole movie.
Or maybe I'm reading to much into this.
