The Matrix
Now I understand why this movie had an impact in the pop culture. Coincidentally, as it was made in 1999 – in my opinion – it had unknowingly made a great question for the 21th century: With the coming AI, is our end marked?
This film takes a fruitful opportunity to explore the themes – such late-capitalism, modernity, and reality – through the philosophy of Baudrillard. In one of the first scenes, we see Neo hiding his software in a book, and it's no coincidence that it's Baudrillard's famous work Simulacra and Simulations.
With saying that, this movie should serve as a reminder that we need to keep at least in the back of our minds as we still explore the pros and cons of new technology. The cast was great, Keanu Reeves is not for no reason my favourite actor. The production and special effect were amazing. Excellent movie.
