What we see is not always what is. Overlook is a architectal, spatial madness. Nothing makes sense. As we explore with Danny on his bike the whole building, not a single hallway or door makes sense. The hotel is a maze designed to gaslight the audience, us. The Torrances may be seeing things that don’t make sense, but so are we.
