Sentimental Value
"i grew up in a time when cultura was passed through objects. They we're interesting because... we could love among them". The worst person in the world (2021)
Joaquim Trier's theme between TWPITW and This one felt echoed. But instead of sharing good memories throughout the object, it feels dreadful, The House is a CHARACTER and it shares its dread, sadness, loneliness throughout the times people lived there, thats what Trier accomplish without struggle between it's characters, they know each other's pain. Even if it doesnt share much a screen at the beggining, the House speaks for them, the distances they are between each other and YET, they express SO much tender love, Inga Ibsdotter's acting is so suble but with such a charged Bond with her sister Nora, her performance showed me someone who couldnt bare to not help or be for their family, her character holds so much, Increíble performance. Gustav's shadow fascinación gives Even more insight into how well crafted he is, he doesn't just like shadows because they are dark and lonely like he shows to be, al contrary, he wants the light they cover, he doesn't hide BEHIND the shadows, he wants them protecting him, that window is his life surrounding him, Nora is the light that's never quite there for him, on the contrary to him she is surrounded by light, and it's never enough, they must meet to see how much they need each other, Even if it means losing each other again. Elle Fanning's performance was Wonderful, truly a footprint she has all over the movie, her screentime isn't a lot and yet, delivered one of the year's strongest performances. I wish we spent more time with Nora's plays, but the interludes showed enough how much they mean to her, and Renate Reinsve's acting as always is the BEST. Not only she shows Nora's loneliness but also how much happier being with Agnes is for her, they always had each other's back. Stellan and Renate are fighting each other in who takes up the screen and with their acting they show how much RANGE they truly have. All in all Wonderful performances all around.
