Sentimental Value

One of 2025’s heavy hitters, should’ve been a must-see Loved a lot about this. The set design and cinematography, for one, wouldn’t let my eyes leave the screen for a blink. Loved the colors, the stark reds and yellows looked great against the blue hues of the movie, but the uses of purples and light pinks, specifically in the beach scene, were so nice. My first Reinsve movie, and she knocked it out the park. Give her all the praise, what a nuanced performance. Skarsgard put on maybe my favorite performance of his. Fanning played her character well, but maybe my biggest gripe with the movie is how her character devolved from nuanced to cliche. Started so strong with that beach scene, where did that go! We’ve all seen the acting-to-hide-in-a-characters-emotions trope, but this movie brought catharsis to that in a pretty unique way. Very subtle, very slow-burny, and boiled over perfectly.  Loved a lot of this, a fantastic watch
