The Wicker Man

Before anything else: What an unbelievable remaster this 2023 version is. Last time I tried to watch this it was basically unwatchable. This is truly beautiful. Bravo. As for the actual film. Blimey. I genuinely found it heartbreaking and it's fairly obvious throughout what's going to happen. But I guess that's why it works. We know what's coming and there's nothing we can do but sit and be sung to by Brit Eklund and Christopher Lee and succomb to the insanity. True, dreaded horror that will stick with me forever. Maybe if I ever watch the film again, I'll pause just as Howie and Rowan climb out of the cave and watch the opening flying sequence on repeat with joy. Then I'll be ok.
