Aftersun

Aftersun entrances the viewer through its delicate and mesmerizing depiction of memories. Whether it’s the pixelated and fragmented camcorder footage or the sharp 35 mm film, Aftersun is drained in subtext and nostalgia. It’s a sunburnt emotional gut punch and a beautiful retrospective look at depression, grief, growing older, and realizing how the past influences the present. There are so many lines in this film that I feel in my bones. Aftersun is a transcendent piece of cinema and it lingers in my heart each time I revisit it.  5/5. 🌊
