Angst
I loved almost everything about this. The drops of water that both kickstart and conclude the film were really cool, the camerawork was brilliant and the final kill was actually disturbing. Although I am not usually a fan of a narrator or drawn out exposition, I was impressed and engaged throughout the first 8 minutes of the longer theatrical release. While the lead performance was absolutely exceptional I have to fault the film half a star for the family’s acting. They act as if this isn’t the first time a crazed man has broken into their house with a knife and tied them up! I don’t recall a single scream or anything, and I’m almost certain that the mother was stood in place spectating as her daughter got tied up for the better part of a minute. Bar this, the film gives both a great and frightening insight into the psyche of a demented and remorseless killer. Not all films have to have an underlying message to be good, this is definitely one of my all time favourites.
