Saltburn
The good
I enjoyed this movie to a certain extent. I loved how the main character had no sad backstory or did it all for some silly reason he was just greedy. I think a lot of people are thinking about this movie in the wrong way some people labeling it as a “Eat the rich movie” The term “Eat the rich” is mostly about wealth redistribution and and taking down the upper class, which i don’t think this movie displays at all. In Saltburn we see a man filled with pure obsession and greed which i think we need in movies these days. It seems like in almost every movie the villain has to be politically core or have a reason for doing something instead of them just being evil. I loved the symbolism of the movie even in its most disturbing scenes.
**The Bad
**Though I did enjoy this movie there are parts i’m confused about? The drinking of bath water and the intercourse w/ the grave? I’ve been trying to figure out if those were important things of the plot or if the writers put it in for shits and giggles. Also the period blood scene with Felix’s sister?? I believe the bath water scene was some sort of metaphor for Oliver trying to consume Felix or embody the person he was? Still some things i’m unsure of and some of the scenes feel a little uncomfortable but i think that’s what makes it different. I gave this movie 3 stars because i’m not entirely sure how I feel about it yet. At first glance it is a great movie but i feel like the writer wanted the movie to go in a different way but decided to be different. Still an amazing watch nonetheless (Don’t watch this with your parents)
