Simón
“I thought I was making a difference.”
I love art when it is risky, when it has something more than purpose, when it is important and relevant. Those kind of pieces that leave you thinking where are we as a society. My whole life I’ve been submerged into a part of this story, so there’s definitely a nationality slant in my opinion.
I don’t want to tell you once again there’s darkness in Venezuela, where the light at the end of the tunnel is inconceivable. I always try to be an optimistic, to people like us, this film crushes you just like the day-to-day panorama does, even more, I dare to say. It’s worse when you realize the movie was not even censured, because they don’t even care anymore. Because the majority is chronically waiting for something good to happen.
A Memorial, a reminder: Simón is for all those who died and didn’t have to, for all those who had to leave everything behind, for everyone who is inside the country putting all of their effort, for the hopeful, for the hopeless. Sad, but at least it’s a story that is being told. I know for sure that, in the long term, many IMPORTANT stories will be exposed, and I hope that more than justice, they give consciousness.
I want to love Venezuela, just wishing that love would be reciprocal.
