Frankenstein
actually amazing
frankenstein has always been something that annoys me as a lover of adaptation. there’s always far too much of a focus on victor but cuts it off after the creation.
this is the first time i’ve seen an adaptation of this book that’s actually focused intensely on human nature and the story of the creature WHICH IS THE ESSENCE OF THE BOOK
every great science fiction has a criticism on society and human desire to prove something which is so frustrating when it comes to frankenstein (as the ORIGINAL science fiction) because it’s always the part that’s missed. victors need to prove something is nowhere near as important as the creatures desire to live in freedom and without fear. humanity’s desire to understand purpose is the core of this story.
i don’t care that victors story was changed because its been don’t so many times. SHOW ME THE MONSTER!!!! SHOW ME THE POOR DUDE THAT WAS FORCED INTO THIS WORLD!!!!
also actually wild that jacob elordi was like properly discovered from the kissing booth. he has come so far. and i’m so happy that for once his physical presence isn’t used to make him look attractive. he is not objectified; his physique is used within the wider narrative in a role he can THRIVE in. like he ate this role up and i love it so much.
