Lost Highway
After watching the fun but slightly lacklustre Wild at Heart, Lost Highway has restored David Lynch as my cinematic goat. This might be his best film. I wish this movie was 5 hours long; the suspense, the mystery, and the colour palette just make for audacious viewing. A film about what it means to be a "manlet", Lost Highway is just as riotous as it is horrifying. The protagonist(s?) show us that impotence (both literal and figurative) is the breaking point of faux masculinity. Every performance is perfect, even Gary Busey is cast perfectly somehow. This is absolute fucking cinema.
