This film is nothing short of extraordinary from beginning all the way to the very end. Listen, I don’t really like war films, and it takes a lot for me to watch war films. Going into it, I was not expecting to give it a perfect score, but here we are. My highest rated war film, and now my favorite ever.
For me this is better than the likes of Paths of Glory, Full Metal Jacket, and even Inglorious Bastards. Even though I’m not as high on Inglorious as many people are, I’m still a very big Tarantino fan, so this being better says a lot.
I was engaged in the story, and glued from the screen from beginning to end, and there we’re so many stressful moments, that I adored. The one in the mineshaft for example, where the rat ran across the trip wire, and the roof above them collapsed, such an amazing sequence. The one that followed shorlty after as well, at the farm where that german pilot crashed. Crazy decision from the pilot, to stab the person who was rescuing him.
The ending of the film as well, was just so amazing to watch. I had seen the clip of Schofield running across the field before, but I didn’t know or understand the context, so now finally watching the film felt very reedeming.
Gotta be one of the best films of the 2010s!!!
