Parasite

I saw this movie in theaters and just absolutely loved it. I actually went into my notes and found my review for it back when I saw it in January of 2020. I’m going to share some of those thoughts,  “This movie is absolutely phenomenal. I know you have heard it a million times so you don’t even have to take my word for it. This movie has obviously gotten great oscar buzz, and has wonderful reviews all around. I can say this is VERY deserving of the reviews! Let’s start off by just talking about the story. The story is so rich there’s so much detail to everything in the story. And what’s best about the details, is all of the exposition is given through visual storytelling rather than baby feeding you information. Bong Joon-ho Shows that he is a master of his craft. As the story gets deeper and deeper, I felt myself wanting to unzip out of my skin and leave the room. This movie made me so uncomfortable on so many levels, but all for the good ways. It’s absolutely disgusting at times from a social commentary point of view. Without giving any spoilers, just know if you’re going to watch this movie you think it’s one thing then all of a sudden it flips on its back and grows eight legs metaphorically. The actors here are all amazing. Everyone is fitting in their roles, and they nail the spots that they are in. The score here is also amazing, it never felt overdramatic but always seem to fit the situation that the characters were in.” I still agree with these points some years later. This movie is just phenomenal. It truly is a modern day work of art. One thing I failed to mention in my previous review was how beautiful the movie looks. I watched this on a 4K UHD format, and it truly looks amazing. Not just the 4K format, but the movie itself and the shots that are within it are stunning.  This movies got it all, a good score, interesting and in depth characters, relevant and thought provoking commentary, great cinematography, engaging story, well done performances, etc. If you have not seen Parasite, do yourself a favor and watch it as soon as you can. It deserves the hype.
