Predator
Can you imagine seeing Predator in theaters during the summer of 1987? I mean there was nothing like it up until that point! Hell, you could even make the argument there still isn’t anything like it to date. John McTiernan crafted a true work of art. An action juggernaut. If you went into this film blind, it starts as one thing, and it eventually becomes something entirely different. Yet it’s not right away.. it takes its time getting there. We don’t see the Predator in full for a while. McTiernan tactically gives us just enough to wonder as the audience what is really out there in the jungle… we see skinned bodies, glimpses of some sort of thermal/infrared vision, etc- but he does make you be patient and wait. It’s a choice McTiernan clearly felt was important, and it really does add to the films suspense, and overall works in favor of the film.
And thank heavens they ended up switching the look of the Predator so he looks as he does now! Iykyk
