The Evil Dead
The first time I ever watched The Evil Dead I was about fifteen or sixteen years old. I had just barely gotten a jailbroken firestick where I could watch it (which would constantly buffer). As years went on I saw the film for its influence but I didn’t have a personal attachment to it, but rather attached to the sequels and following films. Few years back I listened to a podcast that talked heavily into the production of this film and how big of a sicko Raimi was (complimentary). Rewatching it this time around, I was in constant awe at the backwoods filmmaking style and techniques. The Evil Dead is a true inspiration to aspiring filmmakers and even just those in love with the art. What Raimi and his team were able to accomplish in this film is mind boggling to me. Several moments I was wondering, “how did they do that?” knowing their budget and circumstances. Incredible film. Sick, vile, and repulsive- I love it.
