The Thing

The special effects in this movie are just outta this world no pun intended. I mean it’s unbelievable how they were able to pull all this off in ‘82. And just like in my Jurassic Park review, movies now a days can’t even compare in terms of the visual effects. These practical effects on screen are just so disgusting and so gnarly looking I absolutely love it so much.  This movie is just a whole lotta fun. It’s got so much intrigue and suspense to it. The Antarctica setting really plays into that and benefits the movie greatly I think.  It makes the movie feel so isolated.  I also love the score, the simple “bum bum, bum bum, bum bum” it’s rad.  The characters are good here as well. Everyone goes from being friends to pointing fingers at each other and it works really well.  One thing I would critique the movie on and it’s seriously so little, is the fact that a lot of the transitions are just fades to black and they look goofy lol.
