A Bride for Rip Van Winkle
this movie has been on my watchlist for months and every time i saw its runtime, i hesitated because i knew i had to be in the right mood for such a feast.
the short synopsis doesn't prepare you for the beauty and the pain of this film. there's so much deceit, yet such a deep, genuine craving for love and connection. and somewhere in the middle of this three hour film that drifts from place to place, there's this beautiful, yet harrowing queer love story and i ached the entire time for them to just kiss. and then they did. in their fake wedding dresses. and then she died. in her fake wedding dress.
this film felt like a long dream that you can't quite hold onto because it doesn't want to be held. but man...the feeling of it lingers
