Moonlight

Beautifully made film. The consistent themes of blue when it comes to Chiron’s character were well done. Juan telling Chiron to not let others define him, while talking about the moon and how he was called blue, however, never really embracing the nickname and not allowing it to define him. Throughout the film, Chiron is called little or black. I noticed at the end of the film his license plate has black on it and the area code for Miami. Despite him admitting he isn’t connected to the past anymore after moving to Atlanta with his mom, he is still somewhat connected to his old life.  I enjoyed the consistent themes and how they tied up to Chiron arc and story. The side characters are well-written and contribute well to Chiron’s development but also make a memorable impact on the story itself. Juan was my favorite character, seeing Chiron take on a similar job as him. Juan was a father figure to Chiron; from the dynamic between him and his mother, he unfortunately did not have many male figures in his life. Anyways, I recommend this movie
