Stop Making Sense
I used to search for the best concert films, and every single time this was on the top of the list.
Coming from a background of hard rock and heavy metal, I was puzzled, I had barely heard of the Talking Heads, I was expecting something like Led Zeppelin or Metallica to headline those lists. But a man in a giant suit? Really?
Eventually, I decided to give it a go. Surely the internet knew something I didn't? Or at the very least I could learn a thing or to about a band I wasn't familiar with.
But one thing I did not expect was the JOY. The sheer celebration of life and music burst through the screen and speakers and filled up my chest and mind until eventually there was no room for it to go but my legs.
I have never been much of a dancer, but the Talking Heads and David Byrne got me good. Dancing is not meant to be a display of skill or coordination (though it helps). No, dancing is joy, and having fun, and getting weird with it.
Music is amazing man, it can do so much, it can take you places you'd never imagined, and, best of all, music can heal your soul.
