just so fucking *neat*. paprika is THE embodiment of animation as medium imo - it shows why animation works and what its strengths are compared to live action films. and on top of that it has one of my favourite soundtracks ever! it's really a must watch for anyone who loves animation, together with the likes of *akira *and *into the spiderverse* (and, of course, many more)

no notes. genuinely really funny and my favourite depiction of aliens i've seen recently. also some really interesting cinematography and editing choices that made it stand out

devastating. i love a good fujimoto adaptation, especially one that really works with animation as a medium. and in contrast to some i actually thought the short runtime was actually a strength of the film - it's able to say so much in just an hour and that makes it even more impressive to me.

there's nothing new that i can add to this conversation that hasn't already been said but the detachment that this film explicitly represents through an overwhelming use static camera shots depicting ordinary life for the Höss household is, on a technical level, marvelous and magnificent. especially when juxtaposed with the soundscape.
