beautiful and bleak. a harrowing tale of what women endure in order to get basic health and safety for themselves. some of the most tender moments occur when women use their sexuality and beauty in order to get what they want from men-and that deep empathy that this is something all women understand must sometimes be done. this came out in march where i imagine it was still incredibly poignant. however, in october of 2020 i can't help think how much more effective this becomes with the new nomination for the supreme court. this is a movie i will find myself thinking about for the next months, in the silences.
