Amadeus
I wanted to write a one-liner for this movie, however that would be disrespectful towards a Milos Forman masterpiece like this.
First of all, this movie wasn't about Mozart, it was purely about the undying envious hatred built in Salieri's heart against Mozart. This hatred eventually evolved to a point where he was mocking and insulting God as if he was responsible for his misery. On the other hand, the innocence and immaturity of Mozart is represented through how he actually respects Salieri as a supporter of his work.
The acting in this movie is undeniably amazing. Tom Hulce is able to re-enact an immature genius while being able to represent the mid-life crisis Mozart is experiencing all the while being immature. On the other hand, Murray Abraham had such great acting that I had to pay extra attention to his facial expressions to see how he reacted to the things happening, which reflected the monotonous and envious personality of Salieri.
For a historical fiction, this film's ending would have to be one of the greatest I've seen. From the second half onwards of the movie, there is this drive in Salieri in taking the power from Mozart all away and murdering him. The ingenious way that this is presented is through the most important thing in both of the composers' lives: music. The end where Mozart is lying as a goner and Salieri is writing down every syllable coming out of his mouth is like scooping out the bits of orange left on its dry peel. Finally, Mozart's life comes to an end as a product of Salieri's effort.
This movie was great on so many levels, and as my second Milos Forman film I would love to see more of his work.
