Border
The art direction, Eva Melander and Eero Milonoff's performances and the story makes Border a must-see for those who lean themselves into magical realist stories, speaking as a newcomer/big fan of the genre.
The story leans into a darker tone (with a bit of body horror) that really helps convey the conflict that Tina faces between her real identity and her humanity. Despite the darker tone, this sense of magic persists throughout the film, and presents a big contrast between these feelings of shame and this desperate sense of remaining humanity in this world.
It's also pretty disturbing at some parts but this is what brings a sense of realism to the folkloric elements
