First Blood
all you had to do was GET THIS GUY SOME FOOD
while the movie has its share of bullets and explosions, it’s interesting that it only ever has one kill. an unintentional one at that. you also need to give it some credit in that it prioritizes on story a lot more. other examples include “the killer” (1989) and die hard (to an extent). while i haven’t seen much sylvester stallone movies as of the time of this writing, one cannot deny how this movie features one of the best performances of his career as vietnam vet john rambo. to paraphrase james rolfe, it’s not often you see an action star like sly all curled up, crying horribly like a baby like in this film. i applaud it for the story it crafts and how it differed from other action movies at the time. in my honest opinion, while the other installments in this franchise indeed are more action packed, with rambo being as tough as nails, i think “first blood” will always reign supreme for showing his more vulnerable side, having been traumatized by the war, and having been left a broken man.
