Good Omens
“I have the universe out there, and you. everything I’ve ever wanted.”
I’m using this as a way to talk about the finale and a little bit as a retrospective of the show itself.
Good omens started when I was a dumb little pre teen, specifically, I was on the way to visit my grandma for the summer. I only had the one episode downloaded, and because of that, I watched it dozens of times in a couple days.
I latched on and I latched on hard. Aziraphale and Crowley were the biggest comfort to me. Their love was something I aspired to. I rewatched that first season hundreds of times, I swear. Theres HUNDREDS of drawings of them in my old sketchbooks.
I grew up since then, obviously. Whatever ineffable plan continued on for me. I graduated, lost friends, gained two of the most incredible friends I’ve ever met (who only ONE of them will understand this review. Love u Ted Theodore Logan.)
And yet, aziraphale and crowley’s story still captivates me.
Obviously, the production of this show reached a bit of a halt after season two, and I kind of forgot to latch back on.
Season two, when I finally got around to it, was incredible. Their story continued, broke my heart, made me laugh and absolutely fall in love with Jim for some god forsaken reason, and ended on some bullshit.
Now finally, as I type this, the story that captivated me so much just reached an end.
A really, really satisfying end, if I’m completely honest. One that had everything I wanted for these boys, I cried, I laughed. It was great.
Could there have been a bit more time? Absolutely. God. Having this be a movie was a great mistake, one that definitely impacts the show as a whole, but I truly can’t speak ill of the actual ending. FUCCCCKK man.
Thanks, good omens. For being as amazing as you were. :)
