One of the best, most powerful, and emotionally stirring movies this year!! I was raised by Persian parents and around a lot of Persian culture so I really wanted to check out It Was Just An Accident. Especially after it won the Palm D’or at Cannes. The movie took about 25 minutes to really get going for me but once it did, I didn’t want it to end. I couldn’t get enough of each of the characters’ points of view, the questions of morality, of right or wrong. These characters are scarred and imperfect, a perfect combination which allowed for plenty of political commentary on the Iranian Regime and the cruelty of their imprisonment and life in captivity. The script is soul crushing at times and absolutely hilarious, Jafar Panahi balances tone so perfectly. And that ending… genuinely one of the most haunting looking and sounding final shots I’ve experienced. It left the entire theater with a heavy silence. 9.5/10

Big step up from the first in my opinion. 8.2/10

Fucking STUPID how good The Ring is. Looks years ahead of its time, sounds fantastic, pacing flows like water, the atmosphere is unsettling and the dread is present the entire time, this is some of Hans Zimmer’s best work, Gore Verbinski moves the camera so perfectly, and it has the perfect amount of horror. This movie has my favorite jumpscare of all time tied with the lawnmower from Sinister. I can’t man it’s good My score: 10/10Gf score: 9/10
