Hamnet
this was definitely an experience. powerful emotions run throughout this film, right from the early moments of connection between will and agnes, played by paul mescal and jessie buckley, to their moments of agonising loss. even in their times of disconnect, the smaller amounts of dialogue between the two gives room that allows us to feel their grief for both characters. these two were both absolutely amazing. honestly, jessie really stole the show, i now understand the oscar hype for her. her during the pregnancy, or following the death scene, just sensational. i have to say, jacobi jupe in his death scene was fantastic as well. everything about that scene was perfect, it was so heartbreaking to watch. it almost got the tears flowing there. watching the hamlet play in this was lovely, and it’s nice to see the visual of agnes realising how this play is in memoriam of hamnet. that scene where the audience held out their hands to hamlet is beautiful.
nothing short of phenomenal, comfortably one of my favourite films of the year (wish this was released here in 2025).
