Train Dreams
i spent close to the last two years asking myself, why is it so hard to express my feelings of grief? do i simply not feel anything as others do? over this time, i’ve come to realise that everyone experiences grief in different ways, people wail, people resort to destructive ways of life and others live being tormented by their losses in silence. the character of robert, shows silent grief in a world that takes everything meaningful from him. we see the people we lose everywhere we go, whether we find them in our dreams, or in others. they serve as great teachings and ways of life, feeling as if they are by our side in everything we do. this film forces you to feel everything, some of the most beautiful sequences of this film are placed right beside the most traumatic. many of us will have lives exactly like this. that’s all our lives will be, ever-changing.
i don’t think i’ll ever resonate with a film as much as i have here.
