Requiem for a Dream

i liked the use of experimental shots and editing to make addiction feel experiential. it genuinely feels like you are watching the film on drugs at times lol. every performance is strong (lowk these lot had to been on something whilst they were acting), but what really took over was how the film frames obsession itself as the drug. money, weight loss, love, validation watching the mother, girlfriend, friend, and harry spiral in parallel shows how easy it is to fall, and how terrible the consequences can be. the mothers descent tho. damn. her loneliness, hallucinations, and Harry slowly disappearing from her life without realising what is happening to her, despite the promises just goes to show you to take nothing in life for granted some funny moments too, like the fridge hallucination😭 but sad in the same breath. film gives a reminder that drugs (doesn’t have to be tangible) do not just destroy you, but they can take everything and everyone around you with them also Harry’s wig is whack. tha shi never moved out of place once i swr. lego ahh hair 💀
