Bugonia
Bugonia feels like a film quietly watching the world fall apart. It explores self destruction and toxic corporate culture through cold, lifeless architecture that makes everything feel empty and off.
The cinematography by Robbie Ryan stands out, with frames that carry real emotional weight and a colour palette that feels sharp and intentional.
This is my first Yorgos Lanthimos film, but his style is clear, strange characters placed in bizarre, almost unsettling situations that still reflect real life.
Emma Stone is fully committed, and it’s crazy she didn’t win at the Academy Awards. Jesse Plemons delivers a memorable performance and Aidan Delbis stands out really well, considering his lack of lines compared to Emma and Jessie.
The film is in a constant loop of questioning innocence, trust, and social order. Yorgos just leaves you sitting through quiet, tense moments that eventually lead to chaos in the third act.
