Memento
Memento is already a brilliant film — unique and clever with its reverse structure. But after watching Nolan’s more recent work, I can’t help but wonder what Memento would look like if he made it later in his career.
With how far Nolan has pushed editing, time manipulation, and scale in films like Tenet and Oppenheimer, Memento could’ve been even more layered. Maybe a dual timeline that intersects in real time, or even more disorienting visuals to reflect Leonard’s memory loss. I feel like the story would be the same at its core, but the editing and structure would be way more intense and polished — possibly even more emotional.
Still, part of what makes Memento great is its rawness. It’s Nolan before the IMAX and the big budgets. But yeah… imagining a modern Nolan tackling this script with today’s tools and experience? That’s a wild thought.?
