Prisoners
Holy shit. This was shockingly good. Like I’m genuinely shocked at the level of this. I need a break. I haven’t felt this much for characters and a story in a long time. I didn’t blink or breathe for good amounts of this film. The acting from all was unreal, too real, scarily good. Hugh Jackman was superb, god knows how he didn’t win an Oscar let alone not even get nominated. Am I missing something? WHATS WRONG WITH YOU. Give him his award. That’s got to be one of the best acting performances of all time? Jake Gyllenhaal was amazing as well, he’s becoming one of my favourite actors. The writing was also noticeably good. It kept tight and concise throughout a long runtime which allowed the story to flow well and it never felt disjointed. A great twist in the middle. A depressingly dark setting and mood. Most of the film is exceptionally executed. A Villeneuve masterpiece. I wish I could see this for the 1st time again and again. 10/10.
