Challengers
Tashi is so interesting to me because she’s very complex and i don’t fully understand what her intentions are and when she’s genuine all the time, the only thing i’m certain about is her hunger for a good game of tennis, that she achieves successfully.
Tashi is the ball and Art and Patrick are the rackets, the rackets follow the balls movements, just how they follow hers. She bounces back and forth just as a ball does in tennis.
She brought a spark into their lives and their tennis playing that wasn’t there before, she was awful most of the time but their lives would most likely be passionless and boring, but same goes for each other, the most passion we see from grown Art are in his scenes with Patrick and Patrick didn’t care weather he won or lost until he found out he was facing art, similar to when he didn’t care until he found out the prize is Tashi’s number.
They can’t live without each other or else they have no spark, but at the same time I don’t believe there was love between Patrick and Tashi, just shared passion. I do think she loved Art at least in some way, she just loves tennis more, that was her number 1 priority.
I’m normally not the biggest fan of open endings but I also I don’t think the game needed to go one, they all got what they wanted no matter who won or lost. Tashi got her REAL passionate tennis match, and Art and Patrick got to feel the most passionate they have in years. Who knows what happened after that but in the context of the match it doesn’t really matter, it had its conclusion, and ended the exact same way the bed scene did.
That gay shit was serious for those two like damn.
