THE best movie soundtrack no questions asked like you cannot compete with her! even if you tried!! and there's no point in even trying to explain what the cinematography and the storyline and the characters and the music do to you all together because it just CAN'T be expressed in words it just can't?? also howl is my boyfriend sorry! and i'm adopting calcifer in the foreseeable future, my favorite little emo demon boy. all in all a beautiful movie. the ending is always a little confusing to me though? like i've watched this so many times but if someone asks me how this ends and why? well i'll just smile and wave because what is there to say
people say this is the best movie ever made and i get them! i truly truly do. the way this was like my most watched movie as a child. you just never got tired of it? and i will say though (something i don't say a lot), that for me, the original language isn't the best version of this movie. watching it in swedish just creates such incomparable nostalgia that the japanese voices just can't compare. but yes hayao miyazaki's brain is just so big for coming up with this masterpiece of a movie
my most rewatched movie as a kid i think actually... as per usual with the ghibli films the soundtrack and cinematography is just unbeatable. the plot is so interesting too and it never gets boring in my opinion! arietty was my role model when i was little and i seriously experienced my first heartbreak when she couldn't be with shou. i'll always hold this movie close to my heart
i'm so speechless after this. words won't be able to do this film justice in any way. i can't even. like this movie is everything to me. my mahito my himi my warawaras my family i love you so much. there's just so much magic in this i feel like everything was at peace in my mind and in the world while i watched this. i feel like i was truly in there with them. i love miyazaki's brain so much.
SO so magical it had me in tears. i was gonna say i wish this was one of the ghibli movies i watched when i was younger because i think rewatching it along with the nostalgia would've been a total out of body experience, but i understand why my mom wouldn't let me lol... the amount of maimed arms? decapitations? yeah no... but all in all just wow. this truly captures the ghibli magic like no other. the cedar forest was the most breathtaking piece of animation i ever did see. and the love story? don't get me started. also the kodamas MADE this movie what it is? i'm sorry but the forest would've been nothing without them it's true! just so so magical all in all. that's the only word accurate enough to describe this movie
flawless? may i say? a shorter film but not a minute of it is boring? i love the plot love the characters love the cinematography love the soundtrack love absolutely everything about this.
so wholesome and cute and fluffy and adorable. i love the soundtrack and it's the ultimate comfort movie. i watched it a lot as a child and i always wished i could be one of the girls. i think nostalgia adds to the reason why i love this movie so much
so sad and horrible and tragic like? i sobbed uncontrollably? i feel like this isn't as rewatchable as many other ghibli films both because it doesn't have that magical utopia feel and also because of the tragic storyline but i still enjoyed it and grew so attached to the characters. and as if it couldn't get any sadder as well of course it's based on a real story. i love them so much they deserved so much better
ok but miyazaki's animation of night-time japan??? crying real tears over how beautiful it is. overall the movie itself has a nice and cute storyline but it's nothing life-changing. the soundtrack isn't really all that memorable either compared to his other movies. just wholesome vibes!
very very pretty setting and an intriguing story! that plottwist at the end too... yeah but it's just not peak ghibli cinema
the animation was beautiful and impressive but i just have such a nonexistent interest in planes that this just got boring. the love story was heartbreaking but i also felt that it came out of nowhere? like the development happened in secret and wasn't really shown, which i guess yes, happens in real life, but it just made it so much more difficult to connect with their relationship and understand why they loved each other. i honestly probably wouldn't rewatch but i can also see why people love it
