Heat
The movie that frequently listed among the greatest crime-heist ever made. And they weren't wrong. And probably the best three hours i've ever held my bladder for.
The story of two men on the opposite sides, mirrors of the same ideal, driven by their ego beneath the gloomy cerulean sky, entangled in a solemn, cathartic pursuit. Heat hit me with riveting, frenetic power from the start then left me in stupefaction by the end.
One of striking elements is the sound design, the gun shots that reverberate with brooding intensity, even in broad daylight. Robert De Niro as Neil McCauley and Al-Pacino as Vincent Hanna are undeniably magnetic. Different versions of each other: one defined by quiet, rigid professionalism, and the other by the hot-headed, erratic characteristic. Together with strong ensembles, shaped the sprawling, volatile saga to its core.
This movie landed with full force for three hours, carried by sumptuous visuals, exceptional pacing, and sound design that towers over every actions, keeping it constantly engaging, along with Pacino's iconic line. And somehow, it makes me think Michael Mann invented the color blue.
