A Clockwork Orange
Bloody hell, this is one of the most thought-provoking things me glazzies ever viddied. What a horrorshow this was, filled to the brim with the beautiful score of old Ludwig Van and a healthy dose of the old ultraviolence.
First off, the spectacle. Me glazzies were absolutely dazzled by the cinematography. The framing and camera work constantly made it feel like you were watching something you shouldn't (courtesy of Josh). Beyond that, the film has some genuinely fascinating things to say about the criminal justice system, free will, and our ability to make moral choices. It's especially interesting how, by the end, you almost feel a pang of pity for little Alex. The film really puts your own morality as a viewer under the microscope.
The set design and stylistic choices are incredible too. They create an England that feels strangely familiar yet deeply unsettling.
Weirdly, I didn't find it that difficult a watch. Despite its disturbing subject matter, it stayed thoroughly entertaining and captivating from beginning to end.
Overall, a fantastic watch, and Kubrick... you absolute wizard.
Though I do not recommend watching it with your pee and em.
