Aftersun
at first when the movie ended, i was confused.
that's it? then I really thought about it and wow
this film really makes you think about every interaction you have had and especially with your parents.
the music lessons scene truly broke me and I love how calum(paul) really tries to be the best father he can be even while battling depression. as a viewer there are obviously signs that he is suffering but he tries his best not to let it affect his daughter.
the way he did collapse on their last night there does show you can't always keep faking.
he tries to provide his best but due to him being a father at a young age, not able to advance in his job he isn't able to provide with much yet he tries. this movie really speaks to me and i think is going to be stuck with me for some time. it honestly portrays depression pretty well. i do believe the last scenes were sophie in her adult life trying to figure out what were the signs or is there any thing she could've done to prevent his dad from killing himself. i love how they didn't actually show him killing himself but it's so visible. now that I think about it, the ending was great, when he walks into the strobe lighting dance room.great movie ❤️
