Frankenstein

We haven't got such stylish icon since "Candyman", Frankenstein got both heart and drip There are two halves of the story and it's well explained here. First one is more literally version and more deeper one. It's a nice surprise to see some adaptation to finally get Victor's being a student and the madness following it. I swear I've seen plenty of adaptation, but that aspects were rarely covered. If you familiar with the book - the part one of the story is pretty much proper adaptation. However what makes it different it's how creature see the world. It solely based of kindness and companion of other beings. Blind man subplot is so delightful, we can see creature learning, show compassion, protect, read and have a real friend - something Victor wasn't at all. Very important thing, it was all because Elizabeth saw his pain begind the eyes. It's not really monster vs. human it's more of a nature vs. nurture kind of thing. Victor and everyone around him are consumed by madnes, inflicted by his ambition and disgust to his creation leaving him shattered both emotionally and physically. While the creature thrives in right environment, his acts of love has the same response and learns so much even for a companion. Final act is truly devastating, starts with war between Victor and creature and both Elizabeth and William end up dead. Crude battle ends up with forgiveness and tearful goodbye. I was tearing up. Creature is so beautiful and whimsical. All the costumes and effects are otherworldly, I'm in love with blue and wedding dress. Just learned today the danish ship was real too and I'm loving that even more, but the tower was insane. Use of red was really special as well. Obviously I was familiar with both Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi's game so I've really enjoyed it even more. Huge fan of "enlightened in bath" scene. Despite two roles and limited screentime Mia Goth really shined in here. I'd love to see her in "Frankenstein's bride" if there is a possibility.... Guillermo del Toro never disappoint, we really now have holy Trinity from him including this, "shape of water" and "crimson peak". Side note: distribution really sucks, I know some countries had cinema release and mine didn't. I envy that cause I'd rather see it on the biggest screen possible.
