Gladiator II
It was actually escatic to watch it in cinema, absolutely incredible
Even opening credits that looks painted (I hope it's not digital art) looked stunning.
First fight was huge surprise, yet nothing compares to gladiator's fights obviously. But the scale of all of it was out of these world. Few thousand of armies fighting against one another was truly epic. Did not expect to see that much blood and chopped off uhhh limbs but that's awesome.
Lucius way to victory was insane. Cannot believe it all started with fighting apes. Loved how the first technique use of well coping ape's behavior. The first climax along with the fight with Justus Acacius was bit predictable but still amazing. The last climax was obviously parallel to first movie and done well might add. Not surprised that Paul Mescal nailed it because duh.
Speaking of Acacius, I'm absolutely loved Pedro's performance. He wasn't just a general, he was a husband, stepfather and leader of rebellion first and foremost. I knew he was going to die at that arena. I've cried a little even. Pedro for the love of god may the next role is the one when you don't die...
Tyrants or just diva off?¿ I'm cannot believe Joseph Quinn was playing the villian role just now because he is incredible. He should play bad guys all the time. I was not familiar with Fred Hechinger game but damn another good surprise. Those two were delightful in a way. In other news get this tiny monkey Deedus a freaking Oscar. That monkey was literally Rome's first senator...
Denzel Washington character was probably the most complex one. He constantly switched sides between rebellion and glory, that was ultimately his undoing. Truly of best performances here for a reason.
Connie Nielsen is obviously non ageing goodness and nothing else needs to be say. Real queen.
Seeing those monkeys, rhinos and boat fight on arena was something I haven't seen in years. That scale on production was something else, easily could be compared to 60s historical epics and new dune movies. I don't care about accuracy costumes were gorgeous and sets stunning. I mean men in skirts, all that togas with ropes and plenty of jewelry am I right?
Obviously that Rome was gay as it should and this movie didn't pretend otherwise. Yet another win.
This is truly one of greatest cinema experiences I had in a while. In my opinion sequel is better than first movie... Best legacy sequels bring something new never repeat entire material
We haven't been there back for a loner while... CINEMA
